Mid Calder
The Conservation village of Mid Calder is on the outskirts of Livingston and very popular with families and professionals alike. Within the village there are local shops, post office, a Primary School & Nursery, Play Parks and Public Houses/Restaurants. There is a regular bus service to Edinburgh, Livingston and other parts of West Lothian.
A much wider range of shopping facilities and amenities can be found within Livingston, The Centre, recently completed with various major shops and Designer Outlets. East Calder
East Calder is situated some 13 miles west of Edinburgh city centre and is well placed for those working within the Capital with a regular bus and rail link nearby. Alternatively, major road links including the A71 and M8 allow for ease of commuting West. East Calder has facilities to meet everyday needs including shops, health centre and Primary Schooling With Livingston having a plethora of facilities and amenities including The Centre, Multi screen cinema complex and swimming pool with the surrounding countryside allowing for outdoor pursuits. Kirknewton
Kirknewton lies south of the A71 from Edinburgh to Livingston, and north of the A70 Edinburgh to Carnwath and Lanark. Much of the village stands back from the B7031, which links the two main "A" roads. The result is that Kirknewton has a surprisingly secluded feel; given it is only five miles from the Edinburgh bypass and three miles from the centre of Livingston. There is Railway Station which provides regular services to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Bus services are available every half hour to Edinburgh as well as to surrounding towns and villages. Nursery and primary schooling is available within the village and the High School is located in nearby Balerno. -
Broxburn
Broxburn is a thriving West Lothian town located just 8 miles west of Edinburgh City Centre. There are frequent bus services and a nearby main line rail link with the M8, M9 and M90 motorways allowing easy commuting throughout Central Scotland. Broxburn and neighbouring Uphall offer good shopping facilities including a library, swimming pool, sports centre and a number of golf courses. Livingston, which is only 3 miles away, provides an indoor shopping mall, a leisure pool and several sports centre’s. Almondell Nature Trail and Country Park is also in the area. -
Uphall
Uphall has its own local shops and restaurants, excellent health, primary school and recreational facilities including a golf course, Bowling Green and a fitness and leisure club with swimming pool at the nearby Houston House Hotel. Uphall Railway Station offering regular trains to Edinburgh and Bathgate. There is also an excellent bus service that links the town with Edinburgh and surrounding districts. Close by is Broxburn that benefits from a comprehensive variety of shops, restaurants, banks, a post office, secondary school, sports centre and a swimming pool. Nearby Livingston offers excellent shopping and entertainment facilities at The Centre which has been recently renovated and includes many of the High Street Stores. -
Kirkliston
Kirkliston is an excellent location for commuting to the City and throughout central Scotland, being within easy access of the Forth Road Bridge, the M8/M9 motorways, Edinburgh International Airport and the City Bypass. Amenities within the village include shops to meet everyday requirements, a Post Office, Health Centre, Dentist, Veterinary Surgery, Library, Leisure Centre, Church, together with Nursery and Primary schools which boast a fine reputation. Dundas Golf Course is within one mile and lovely walks may be enjoyed around the surrounding countryside. The picturesque and historic town of South Queensferry is approximately three miles away, with its harbour, marina and railway station at Dalmeny. -
Wester Inch
Wester Inch is a modern development of residential properties close to the heart of Bathgate. Armadale
The popular West Lothian Village of Armadale is well within commuting distance of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Armadale offers a good number of shops to cater for everyday needs, with a more comprehensive range available at adjoining Bathgate Further facilities can be found at Livingston which are both easily accessible by car or bus. Leisure wise the choice includes a number of restaurants and a swimming pool, and Armadale has its own primary school. West Calder
West Calder is a popular West Lothian village located close to Livingston on the A71 and, as such, is within comfortable commuting distance of both Edinburgh and Glasgow (19 and 26 miles respectively). There is also an excellent main line rail link within the village and a park and ride at Hermiston Gait. Edinburgh International Airport is approximately 14 miles away and Junction 3 of the M8, linking both Glasgow and Edinburgh, only 3 miles. West Calder itself has a good range of local shops and services and offers both primary and secondary education. Neighbouring Livingston has an excellent shopping centre and also offers theatres, cinemas, a leisure pool and football stadium. Blackridge
The village of Blackridge lies some 3 miles west of Armadale and has shops, health centre and local Primary school to meet everyday needs. Armadale has a good variety of shops within the town with more extensive shopping facilities available in nearby Bathgate and Livingston.
